Who we are
The Forest Value Chain Association of Kenya is an umbrella association for some if not all industry players along the entire forest value chain. They include but not limited to tree nursery owners, saw millers, fuelwood merchants, timber retailers, charcoal dealers and contractors.
Our primary focus is offering policy advocacy, conservation, direct technical support, capacity building and networking.
The association exists with an aim of bringing together all players in the wood-based industry in Kenya in order to address challenges affecting them. Majority of the players fall into small and medium enterprises (SMEs) strata. They constitute 98% of businesses in Kenya and contribute 30% of jobs and 3% to the GDP.
The association presents an opportunity to support furniture production players and possibly bring carpenters into formal grouping by supporting them to join the Association as a formal grouping. Small and medium sawmills play a major role in job creating and in manufacturing products for the market. Sawmills operate low-technology sawing systems with low timber recovery and need support to upgrade technology in order to improve production efficiency.
To Ensure efficient conversion and utilization of wood and wood by-products as a tool of conservation for supporting the economy up through the forest value Chain.
Be the leading industrial wood value chain Association in Kenya.
